Stayed for 6 days in a superior room - really high standards all round. Staff on hand and with smiles (makes a big difference) facilities clean and in good condition. Tiny pool (cold) but considering the location it’s amazing there is a pool at all. Provided I can book at a sensible price I would have no concerns staying again for businesses or a weekend

A very upmarket hotel right in the center of The Royal Mile. The standard room we ordered was huge, so I don't know what the superior rooms must be like. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. The only grumble was the TV wasn't working on our floor for a couple of days, but some heroic efforts by a couple of engineers got them going again. Breakfast was good, either ordered from a menu ( and they could be very flexible ) or get your own cereals from a buffet bar. The lady who ran the breakfast room, I think her name was Daisy, did a very efficient job and her staff were well trained. I thought she looked a bit like a chubby Mary Poppins in her black outfit. Car parking in the secure multi story car park was only £42 for the week, which I thought was good value. Overall a nice hotel with a lot of character and I've only knocked one star off because of the TV situation. I would certainly stay there again.
